In 2011, the YUDW began work with Milford Progress, Inc. and the City of Milford to revise and update the Downtown Plan for Milford originally prepared by the Yale Urban Design Workshop in 2003. Since the first plan, which had been upon broad community participation and consultation, downtown had developed significantly, seeing marked success as a residential district and restaurant destination. But some core issue from the first plan remained outstanding, including traffic and parking, and some new concerns came to the fore - including sustainability, bicycle access, and some newly vacated storefronts.
As with the first plan, findings from the 2012 Milford Downtown Plan went to support recommendations made in the Milford Plan of Conservation and Development.
