DesignCase Lindholmen
DesignCase Lindholmen was an initiative undertaken by Fusion Point in collaboration with the Yale Urban Design Workshop with the goal of modeling best practices in the development of design concepts and processes for sustainable, resilient, and inclusive urban design. The next phase of development of the Lindholmen area of Gothenburg was taken as a case study, although one important goal of the exercise was to consider any particular site at scales ranging from the building, to public open space and infrastructure, to the entire River City development zone, to the City and its region. Emphasis was placed on the articulation and application of innovative principles and procedures for socially, economically and environmentally sustainable architecture and urbanism that both performs with respect to these principles and makes them visible through cutting edge design. DesignCase Lindholmen was also intended to build capacity at Älvstranden, in the City of Gothenburg, and in Sweden, to undertake world class development projects while building on and enhancing the diversity of local cultures and character.
